This year, the EDH message boards did a secret santa thing.  Here are the cards I got from FinalLogic

THANKS AGAIN!

Ante Cards.  Cards most people either have and loathe, or see and are confused by the term.  Today I want to introduce a little format I cooked up for the holiday season that I like to call

Secret sAnte

Every year over on MTGsalvation.com there is a secret Santa exchange of cards altered in the holiday spirit.  I try to make it a point to participate because getting some random altered cards is a load of fun and altering stuff I have laying around is also a blast.  This year, I had a few spare WPN promos and started off with these:

Ghost of Christmas Past (Lord of Shatterskull Pass)

Actual Ghost of Christmas Past
This got me to thinking... How awesome would it be to do all three of the ghosts from a Christmas Carol.  Lord of Shatterskull Pass was of course the first i made.  Magus of the Future made an awesome Ghost of Christmas Future

Actual Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come/Future
Now, the first two ghosts were easy to come up with a base card, because exsisting Magic cards already emulated the name perfectly.  After gatherer-ing "Present", the only card that came up was [card]Emcee[/card] from Unhinged....not a good fit.  Then it dawned on me.  Feast your eyes on the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Actual Ghost of Christmas Present
That's right.  The Ghost of Christmas Present has a Wreath on his head.  Consistently throughout every image I could find in a Google search, EVERY SINGLE ONE had a stupid wreath on his head.  It just so happens that in my long MTG career I actually recall playing with a card that also has a stupid wreath on its head... PRESENTING...

Folk of the Pines as the Ghost of Christmas Present
[card]Folk of the Pines[/card] made a fine Ghost of Christmas Present and completed the set of cards I was to gift to a random member of MTGS.  I hope whoever gets my cards this year enjoys them and maybe...just maybe, sacrifices a slot in his or her [card]Intet[/card] deck to add Folk of the Pines and have all three ghosts in the same deck.

That's all for today, Happy Holidays from WOOBERG.com and until next time,

It’s that time of year again, the mall violence skyrockets, people drive like they have never seen snow before, and Magic players everywhere hope they get booster packs in their stockings, advent calendars and dreidels.

So in the heart of the season, I thought I would come up with some seasonal variant formats…but that has been done here and here.

Since this is the case, I was reminded of one holiday season where my friend Dan (who’s goofy hat made famous by Grand Prix KC Here) and a few of my other friends were playing one of these formats.

The format was White, Green and Red cards only, with a Christmas theme.  I forget what I was playing, and most of his deck, but here is what I remember of his decklist. (The easily offended beware)

4 – [card]Icatian Moneychangers[/card]
4 - [card]Stuffy Doll[/card]
4 - [card]Pariah’s Shield[/card]
4 - [card]Cloudstone Curio[/card]
4 - [card]Magus of the Candelabra[/card]
4 - [card]Sensei's Divining Top[/card]

The deck had a Jewish theme, what with the candelabra and the Moneychangers, and [card]Sensei’s Divining Top[/card].  The true joy is his win condition.  Take a look at the cards for a second.  The money changer and the artifacts create a way for you to win….with White “Jew-Bolts” as he called them.

Dan would set up all of his artifacts and then drop an [card]Icatian Moneychanger[/card] and deal 3 damage to his opponent, promptly stating “Jew-Bolt you for 3.”  Hopefully any Jewish people reading this article have a sense of humor, because I am sure someone could swing this as offensive, but it’s also quite funny.

To finish up, I am going to make my own X-mas themed deck, here is the list:

Happy Holidays.dec

Green:
4 – [card]Folk of the Pines[/card]
4 – [card]Magus of the Candelabra[/card]
4 – [card]Skyshroud Elf[/card]
Red:
2 – [card]Goblin Snowman[/card]
4 – [card]Frostling[/card]
4 – [card]Falling Star[/card]
White:
4 – [card]Gelid Shackles[/card]
Artifact:
4 – [card]Winter Orb[/card]
4 – [card]Sensei’s Divining Top[/card]
Land:
4 – [card]Scrying Sheets[/card]
8 – [card]Snow-Covered Mountains[/card]
8 – [card]Snow Covered Forest[/card]
2 – [card]Snow-Covered Plains[/card]

Well, that’s all the time I have for today, Happy holidays to all you Magic players, and may you open some BOMBS this new year!
